The urban ecosystem is the “environmental photograph” created annually by Legambiente in collaboration with Il Sole 24 Ore on all the Italian capitals, outlined through 18 environmental indicators thanks to data provided by Municipalities, Istat, Ispra and Aci. "The data of the 18 parameters recorded in 2020 compared with those of 2019 - explains Lucio Passi Head of Legambiente Padua - give the following result: 8 get worse 6 improve 3 are stationary (1 not comparable due to the different survey methodology).
A negative result compared to the previous report: in fact in 2019 compared to 2018 only 2 parameters worsened, 6 improved and the others remained stationary ". Padua in the general classification of the capitals, in 2020 , Padua climbs up a few positions and is 36th, it was 39th in 2019 . At the Venetian level they do better than Padua : Belluno eighth, Treviso ninth, Venice 28th. Behind the city of the Saint we find: Vicenza 60 ° , Verona 69 ° , Rovigo 87 °. "For years, the data of the urban ecosystem have indicated the need for a radical rethinking of the city model - declares Sandro Ginestri , president of the association - the fundamental elements of this change are the fight against land consumption and a rebalancing of the ways of moving around limit smog, still too centered on the single car. The funds for the ecological transition offer a historic opportunity. The third line of the tram and the Smart system financed with 335 million euros to be built within the next 5 years, represent a challenge for a radical change in urban mobility. Just as the Intervention Plan that will have to be approved in the coming months can start the regeneration of the city without further consuming the little green left. Decisive years for change await us, but we need greater involvement of citizens in decisions.
