Steel refunds

To favor and encourage the export of industrial products, in particular in the mechanical sector, the Italian State promulgated the Law of 5 July 1964, n. 639 concerning the refund of customs duties and internal indirect taxes other than the general incoming tax, for certain industrial products exported.

This reimbursement, more generally referred to as "DUTY REFUND or" STEEL PREMIUM ", is granted upon exportation of the products listed in the Table attached to the legislation in question.

The reimbursement is paid in the unit of measurement for each item indicated in the table and is calculated based on the rate per net kilogram (net mass).

Used goods and foreign (imported) goods presented for export as such are excluded from this benefit.

A rule that modifies law no. 639 is constituted by the D.P.R. 7/9/1977 n. 788 which provides for a reduction in the rates set for goods exported to member countries of the European Free Trade Association (E.F.T.A.): Iceland. Norway, Switzerland and with other countries with which bilateral agreements have been concluded where the no drawback rule is envisaged.

In order to benefit from the Duty Reimbursement, the form of the Single Administrative Document must be integrated with the specific copy 3A and in box 44 of the customs declaration the explicit request for restitution with reference to Law no. 639 or D.P.R. n. 788 as appropriate.

To qualify for the refund, the products must meet the following conditions:
